In the early evening on October 1, 2003, Christina Crosby was three miles into a seventeen mile bicycle ride, intent on reaching her goal of 1,000 miles for the riding season. She was a respected senior professor of English who had celebrated her fiftieth birthday a month before. A Body, Undone is a memoir about life after traumatic spinal injury and paralysis and I have an immense respect for Crosby and the work she's done to reclaim what she can of life, and her openness about the losses that linger. This is not a book that falls into the "inspiration porn" category, and the writing varies between beautiful and brutal.
